The technical pivot to live yeast is notable because it solves the survival problem (gastric acid) but introduces a massive Quality Control variable.

You effectively trade 'hard manufacturing' for 'inconsistent dosing.' It will be interesting to see if the open-source approach can actually solve that consistency issue or if it just highlights why centralized production exists.


The tech also opens up an ethical issua about consent - it's very hard to get a vaccine today without knowing you got one, but if your soda or yogurt starts carrying vaccines, it becomes a lot harder to know.

The "government mind control" conspiracy theorists will have a field day.
