Ask HN: How to Login into a Google Account with 8-digit verification codes lost
2 points by hassanahmad on Oct 25, 2024 | hide | past | favorite | 5 comments
I have a Google account with two-factor authentication ON with 8-digit code required to login. I have these 8-digit codes saved in a txt file on my computer, but my hard disk was formatted, and I lost that file. I tried to recover the data but couldn't recover that file. Now I know my email and password but whenever I try to login into that Google accoount, it keeps asking me for the that 8-digit code, which I don't have. Even when I try to recover my Google account using this link (https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery) it is still asking me for that 8-digit code.

What can I do to get into my Google account?

What happens if you keep clicking "try another way" during the recovery? Sometimes the options change if you click it enough times...

It is not giving me another option, just asking for the 8-digit code after I enter the email and password. When I click on try another method, it says you didn't give enough information to verify that this account belongs to you.

Even if you do that same thing several times? (For me it eventually changes)

Let me try this, should I keep on doing this again and again or after a gap of few hours/days?

Again and again, just 4 or 5 times.
