The entire premise is based around the idea that one still has to appear busy or has a desire to demonstrate something that will justify a raise.


Not to sound too naive, I think this whole paradigm creates a bad soil overall. Before I joined $big-corp I was working better and growing faster. Now that I'm in it, I gradually morphed into this kind of employee.. it's a relativistic game and if the system is stupid and rewards the bullshitter, you end up like them (at the risk of your mental health quite often). A good group is one where people are motivated to be sharp, creative, fast, efficient, curious, sharing, open minded IMO.
