Vertical integration is fine, just require them to open up the exact same APIs to third party developers so they are not at a disadvantage.

Not sure if you're saying that bad thing or not, but I think the answer is almost certainly no.

But there could be a requirement that Apple open up their laptops to other OSs (and not just via virtualization). And honestly I don't see why that would be a bad thing.


But the bootloader is already open as far as I know, the real issue is drivers.

You probably can't force them to write the drivers for other OS, but you could presumably force them to document the hardware.


I don't know if it'd be a bad thing or not, was just wondering out loud. I could see reasonable arguments for both sides of that issue.
