So I think the author is reading far too much into the responses. It's fun to make these connections and perform a sort of literary analysis as an amusement. But if you believe it is real, you're treading down the same mental path that produced such foolishness as astrology and witch trials.

After all, when you intentionally search for hidden meaning in something, you're almost guaranteed to find it.
