Have you seem some of the villages in the French mega huge ski areas - some are amazingly ugly.
Les Menuires in the 3 valleys is particularly bad.

Actually I find them quite nice in the winter - but in the summertime ,devoid of all the fluffy white adornment, they reveal their true ugliness !

Some such as Méribel were quite strict in enforcing classic alpine style - somewhat pastiche considering the size of the buildings but still relatively well integrated.
