Looks amazing. I've been using Karafun [1], a paid service, but this seems promising.

Unfortunately karafun, like so many other systems, has egregious holes in its catalog. I hate playing the “this song? No… this song? No… this song? No…” game.

Psst... if you sign up to their Premium tier you can play songs from their "Community" (i.e. user uploaded songs). If you sign up to the "Pro" tier, you can play even more songs that are normally locked from their catalogue (but you'll have to manage rightsholders authorization yourself).

Karafun is a paid service? I've seen their karaoke songs on Youtube for over a decade, I thought that was their business model.

Yes, the free songs on YouTube aren't customizable: there's a low voice guide that you can't turn off (or turn up...), and you can't change tempo.

You can do this from their huge catalog of songs, using their official app or their web client: https://www.karafun.com/web/

Plus, they have music quizzes you can play with many people using smartphones as remote controls. It's super fun for parties where people don't want to sing all the time.

>'Relies on' implies that it wouldn't work without them

Last time Cloudflare went down, their dashboard was also unavailable, so you couldn't turn off their proxy service anyway.

Me too, I highly recommend Hetzner Storage Box. It's cheap, and it works great (unlike their S3-compatible storage, which has been a huge fiasco since they launched it).

Could you elaborate on the issues with their S3 compatible storage? I've been considering it and haven't seen too many issues in my testing, beyond the lack of identity control.

I cannot say much about the quality, but I am also testing around with it at the moment. As for the identity control, you may be able to achieve this with a few extra steps, if you set up bucket policies for the credentials. For this, it would be a bit cleaner to move the storage box to a project of its own.

I still have to check if this actually works in practice, but I am hopeful. I based it off their documentation here: https://docs.hetzner.com/storage/object-storage/faq/s3-crede...

If you look at the Hetzner status page, you'll always see their status about degraded performance for Object Storage: https://status.hetzner.com/

The main problem is that it sometimes slows down to a crawl, or requests fail altogether.

$1 is not going to stop people from spamming. It's just $1 after all...

I agree. I'm just sad that, since I'll personally never upgrade to Liquid (Gl)ass, they stopped updating NetNewsWire for macOS versions before Tahoe.

I believe they just finished or are in beta to release the new version to older OS.

Wow, I've checked and that's true. I'm supper happy, didn't expect that. Thanks!

There is a new version for Sonoma and Sequoia! I am so happy.

>No camera notch

Well, I see this as a very positive thing.

Yeah, it's funny how it's better than the other MacBooks in a way.

Instead, the screen has big bezel.

Givin a copy of your ID card to a website? Damn. In my times, we didn't even use to provide our _real name_ to websites.

In fact, it was strongly recommended not to give out your real name on the internet.

I'll stand by my opinion that deeply integrating the internet into our daily lives instead of keeping as a "place you go" was a huge mistake.

An additional reason for not browsing the web without uBlock Origin on Firefox or other browsers with full support (not Chrome).

Me too. I'm on Linux Mint now and I love how simple, fast but also customizable it is.

If it's not for some specific games or programs, I don't see a single reason to still use Windows in 2026.

Yeah, between KDE and Cinnamon I can focus on my work and have the desktop environment gently fade into the background. Though some get a similar feeling using stuff like i3, sway or Niri.

I've been buying Google Pixel for almost 10 years now, and Nexus phones before that, and my current Pixel is the last Google phone I'll buy.

The ecosystem is closed, Google is speed-running to 100% evil, they're locking down APK installations, etc.

I need to find a replacement, and with me a lot of tech friends and non-techies that just ask me for advice.

The market is waiting for someone to step in; this is a golden chance for Motorola.

You can install GrapheneOS today on your Pixel.

I wish I could. Unfortunately, I need both Google Wallet (I don't carry a physical wallet with me) and both my digital ID app and my bank app don't run on GrapheneOS.

I'm annoyed a lot by that, but there's simply no alternative that I found.
