it's weird how the article neglected that at all. maybe it was assumed to be obvious? I've given brownbags about monoids and they were all focused on parallelization. things like summingbird were good examples i've used.


When I started having to read other people's code, I realized that everyone needed to stop writing "clever" code.


Because unlike London, there is really only 100 years of development in this city. It's much older but if you look at old photos, Santa Monica used to be "far away" and Hollywood used to just be orchards. LA is really more like many small towns growing into a very large city. Each neighborhood has its own identity.
