Sadly (maybe it's my pronunciation), but voice typing isn't that perfect for me. It works alright for regular sentences, but it refuses to understands things that are not plain english (like apt).
No, you don't need to do that for every non non local symbol. You only need to do that for external symbols which are shadowed by a local symbol (which has never happened to me so far).
I'll definitely follow you lead on the status/room-name issue. Mind if I include those tips in a future post?
