They weren't claiming it was dangerous because "AGI soon", that didn't come until later.
OpenAI were claiming GPT-2 was too dangerous because it could be used to flood the internet with fake content (mostly SEO spam).
And they were somewhat right. GPT-2 was very hard to prompt, but with a bit of effort it could spit out endless pages that were good enough to fool a search engine, and even a human at a first glance (you were often several paragraphs in before you realised it was complete nonsense.
My consoles (Xbox and switch) are terrible at the basic thing like updates. My steam deck on the other hand does update all the time but I never notice and haven't ever picked it up off the dock and been stopped from playing a game because it needed to update something. I think they'll start eating everones lunch if they keep making it easier to use and if their 2026 products are good.
The main issue is an ability to rebuild literally any part of the system from sources. A few changes here and there allow cheaters to bypass anticheat protection in a significant amount of ways
Trying to build things in a way that they have to be resistant to missile and drone stand is not a very reasonable scaling constraint. That's why we need non stupid leaders who don't start pointless wars
it's funny because domesticated cats have much more developed frontal cortexes than their ancestors & it would be one of the things that feral cats lose to genetic drift (meaning, no conservation pressure in the wild). whatever boring stuff we have them do is apparently extremely mentally taxing compared to the wild.
IMO it would be hard to reproduce the results using autoresearch setup.
To get CLIP to work properly we typically need large batch sizes. So the experiments in the original paper were quite heavy, and ran parallel across 8 GPUs.
just "eat the food you cooked" would be fine. drink your own champagne sounds like such corporate group think bullshit I'd be tempted to change workplace on the spot
