Exactly. I don't think this is a purely Republican issue. It's a US Empire and its hubris issue. The only difference is that Trump has been open with things that would otherwise have been said and discussed behind closed doors.
I think it is a primarily Republican issue. They have consistently demolished anything of value in the US, and now, the world (unnecessary Iran war is reducing global GDP growth by ~0.3% and boosting inflation by ~1.2%). Unfortunately for them, the damage to their brand is done for a generation. Very similar to Reform and Brexit in the UK.
Agree that the Republicans caused the recent escalations. But I think ultimately the US was heading in that direction, and Trump is just accelerating it.
I agree with you - the US having less power is a good thing, and I welcome it.
It’s increasingly apparent to me that even when it’s not the republicans, it’s still the republicans. Eg education and how incredibly stupid many otherwise good, lovable and loving people are. They cheer for growing the population AND suppressing them so that they can extract their votes.
It’s so blatant and so disgusting.. and yet the realization has no effect. Just like when the church pedophiles were exposed (literally next door) it had no effect whatsoever on their congregation.
As an outside observer (of some decades), the US Democrats are enablers of the Republican / MAGA excesses.
They haven't pushed back hard enough against Citizen's United, the obvious creeping threat of the Federalists takeover of the judicial pipeline into the Supreme Court; the criminal conviction of a POTUS was left to slide, and the list goes on.
Things like properly independant election oversight, district boundary setting (no party partisan gerry mandering), and a host of other boring details matter to keeping a democracy clean and fair.
Cautiously optimistic, given the repairability of the MacBook Neo keyboard, that this design will make it to the rest of their laptops when the refreshed designs are released (next year?).
My journey went from using membrane keyboards (not knowing there was anything else available), to finding out about mechanical keyboards after watching a game streamer and his clacky keyboard, to going out and buying one...only to find out it was a membrane keyboard that was marketed as mechanical-like (!). After a few proper mechanical keyboards (trying to chase the 'thock'), then to low-profile, I'm now on a low-profile split mechanical keyboard, and I think this format is end game for me. The split helps a lot with ergonomics and just feels so natural, and the ortholinear setup just makes sense, despite the few weeks it took me to get used to it.
I was skeptical about the split keyboard, and living in an area that has no stores where I could try it out, I ended up buying a relatively cheap one from AliExpress. I swapped in my own switches and keycaps, and now it feels amazing to type on.
Being able to lean back on my chair while typing with each side sitting on the arm rest is amazing
My back and shoulders felt so much better when I mounted my spliit keyboard floating under my desk, halves shoulder width apart. Not just arms on the armrests, shoulders back against the chair instead of rounded forward. I can't go back. Nevermind that typing that way with colemak and hardly moving my fingers feels like magic.
"Low-profile split mechanical" is I think my ideal too. Though I really like cupped keywells, the Advantage2 definitely convinced me that it's more comfortable than flat.
Is there anything like this but more of a reddit style layout?
I'm on a Facebook group and we're actively trying to get off of all Meta platforms, and wanted to see whether I could start up my own platform using an open source platform - but I think something like Reddit would be more suitable as opposed to a massive chat UI.
Hi! We've got Forum-Style channels planned, similar to Discords, would that work for you? It'd still be a single text channel, and you could have multiple of them per community.
The comments are not trees like Reddit. It's more like a list of questions you click into for a thread. Basically a channel where the top level is a list of threads, has more permanence than threads in normal chat channels.
Sauerkraut and Kimchi are like a cheat code for people on various diets where too many sauces aren't allowed. Turns a boring, bland meal into a something much more flavourful.
> As long as their leaders care more about Israel than the nation they were sworn in to serve.
Trump's wars and military threats (Greenland, Venezuela, Iran, Cuba, etc) have more to do with Trump's ties to Epstein than Israel's foreign policy. The extent to which Russia and Israel manipulate Trump with kompromat is to be determined.
So the Iraq war also was not tied to Israel's foreign policy? So it was just a coincidence that Netanyahu had been advocating for these wars? It was just a coincidence that the US got involved in last years 12 day war after Israel initiated the bombings in Iran?
Epstein represented the Rothschildes, the family that founded Israel. His girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell is a Mossad asset. Separating Trump’s influence by Epstein from Trump’s influence by Israel isn’t possible. The two are intertwined.
I'm mostly the same now, but leaning more towards a hybrid flow.
My Fuji is set to JPEG + RAW. I will apply the sim most suited to the occasion, and only edit the RAWs when I've got a shot that I think is worthy of editing - i.e. something that will end up as a wallpaper/printed out/a feature shot.
I got tired of editing photos, and I ended up editing them sometimes years after the photos were shot.
As for my phone, I just use an app called Analogue on my iPhone for everyday shots (the built in LUTs are beautiful), and then for shots I think may warrant some editing later, I'll use the new Moment cam app.
The time I used to spend watching movies is now spent on YouTube.
With the high quality cameras and drones at approachable prices, it's amazing to watch individuals create videos at such high quality but also has a bit of that DIY vibe that makes it more relatable and enjoyable.
My current fav is watching 4X4 overlanding videos of people driving along some stunning landscapes.
This is so good! Have you done something with the sound as well? I swear that also sounds very 'cable-y' somehow but can't really describe it. Or maybe it's just one of those mind games induced by those CRT lines...
I came across a stat from John Mearsheimer recently: from 1971 to 2021, the US murdered 38 million people.
The US always was a rogue state. Trump is just bad at wrapping the rogueness in a PR cloak.
