Works great for those of us not in US mainland timezones

Anyone else thinking of using this as a homelab server?

Why deno over bun?

Per their wiki [0], these are their notes on Bun:

- No permission restrictions available. Scripts have full file system and network access.

- Supports downloading EJS script dependencies from npm (--remote-components ejs:npm).

- No support for SOCKS proxies when downloading EJS script dependencies from npm.

I'm suprised that corporate software has not picked up deno for these reasons.

andoff[1] works well. I use it to lock down DNS settings to nextdns to block all the sites I want. Then I use lockmeout[2] to lock opening andoff to change the settings.

Also there is limitphone[3], but it has less settings and is easier to uninstall than andoff, but works via the same mechanism.

If you are already building a proxy network to handle this can you please implement redirects? I would love to redirect x.com to xcancel.com by just setting my DNS. I would pay more for this feature.

Will the subscriptions be increased by 100 also?

It's interesting that someone like a boss would be further away from you and not a friend, how would you talk to your boss that is also your friend?

I suppose it would depend on the exact people and circumstances: the "social distance" can be very subjective.

- The same situation with different people or the same people in a different situation may result in different speech levels.

- If an older person feels really close to a junior, they may even ask them to "lower their speech."

There was a documentary about a much older Korean working for a very young boss. This resulted in a conflict: age hierarchy vs role hierarchy. They both spoke to each other in the formal style.

And think about addressing a mix of people who are both above and below you in the hierarchy...

Heroku has been down for hours now for me, and still no mention even on their status page.

It would be nice if all models where available on every plan too.

They give more for free, and your only thought is "sure would be nice if they gave even more for free"?

Honestly, everything should be free, and they could just make money from ads (which I’d block with my ad blocker).

That would eliminate the one differentiating feature on the (presumably) highest margin plan they have.

Moving to a pay-as-you-go model across all their plans might be interesting, but could equally give the wrong impression to some audiences given that it's a pricing strategy usually reserved for budget brands in the consumer space and tends to scare people off.

If you try openrouter you'll see why they have to charge $25/month for the best models. Pay per use and you'll intuitively feel the price.

> would be nice if all models where available on every plan too

Would be nice if I had a lay-flat intercontinental jet.

Second that. Given that they have their fair use policy it should be in their interest as well I would believe since they have a baked in margin.

I would like to root, but I like my Google pay.

In many countries, there are tap-to-pay options permitting using GrapheneOS including Curve Pay and also the standard used by many European banks. US lacks an option but will hopefully get Curve Pay soon. Garmin Pay and Android Pay can be used via a Garmin or Android smart watch so that's what some of our US users do. Pixel Watch works fine paired with GrapheneOS with sandboxed Google Play.

Note installing GrapheneOS doesn't involve rooting. Installing it uses an officially supported process and doesn't void the warranty. It preserves the standard security model and massively improves privacy and security on top of that (https://grapheneos.org/features). It's largely the opposite of most other alternative Android-based operating systems are doing with security.

GrapheneOS != root. You don't have root when running GrapheneOS - it would be a security risk.

Genuinely curious, why do you need root access on your EDC phone? Personally I would stick with a throwaway for experimentation, so I'm curious about your motivation.

To do things like turn off and on airplane mode when certain conditions are met with automate https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.llamalab.a... for example. There are work arounds but having a rooted phone is the easiest.

I see. I get this out of the box on iOS via Shortcuts & automations, it's a part of the base OS and honestly pretty powerful. I get it that iOS is not for everyone, but at the very least it's a proof and an incentive for Android to implement this as well.

That can be done without root access and likely also without needing network ADB via device management.
