This was a self-congratulatory add-on instituted by bankers in an attempt to add respectability to the turbulent industry of studying abstract virtual value that is not just affected, but created by the observer.
Let me repeat myself. There is no Nobel prize for economics.
The fact that the majority of people here, and worldwide, fail to notice that, is the only proof needed that economics is the ultimate science of them all.
And the sweet little Swedes had to bail out their bankers after the US fiasco. At least the bankers spend some of that taxpayer money to keep the "prize" going.
Most people are aware that it's a post-hoc Nobel memorial price, and laureates are selected by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (same as physics and chemistry), are announced with the other Nobel Prize laureates, and receive the award at the same ceremony.

What is so disheartening about so many of my facebook contacts sharing this? That it is a simple manifestation of the power of herd mentality. You are talking about mature adults with not just children and property, but with degrees of higher education not adhering to the base principles of reason. If an "educated" person does not bother to verify perceived facts before acting on them, what other imbecile lemming behavior are they capable of? There truly are no innocents.

if you don't employ a sufficient numbers of native speakers for these languages, you will never get sufficient results. All other employees can't help you out. Translation software is useless, if you don't know how to weight the possible results from the cultural canon.

That's the point of the article- there is no such problem in germanic languages and many other European languages that the google algo have been tweaked for. Search on google in english and swedish, without any URL string shenannigans, get good results for both.
You raise a very interesting point. Just because a lot of American companies draw a large amount of income from abroad does not make them respect the market or adjust the product to that market. IN fact, US imperialist policy (and that is simply what it is, don't take me for a rebel commie, but a country that has been at offensive war for most of it's history cannot be named anything but an imperialist) has insured that other countries are force fed American products, right after we liberize them, as in liberate for immediate colonisation.
